Weekend Visit

Michelle came to visit for the weekend. It was fun as always having her here. She did not get to spend as much time with Patty as she would typically have liked, since Patty was out helping a friend of hers babysit. Patty considers herself something of an expert since she helped take care of my sisters kids last summer.

Michelle was playing Rock Band 2, and she was doing really well, and then something terrible happened. The front USB ports on the Xbox 360 all stopped working. There was an Xplorer guitar plugged in and a controller and neither of them work now either. I called Microsoft and the Xbox 360 is under warranty, but the controller and the guitar are garbage.

Michelle went home today after spending two nights here. She teased Eddy and generally found ways to entertain herself. It was nice having her here.

Contest

I’ve had pretty good luck with contests over the last several years. I won a contest, well technically I don’t suppose I won, but nevertheless I did get a pair of Nike shoes for Michelle. I have not been able to say anything about it, because I wanted it to be a surprise, but at the end of the movie Coraline it says “For Those in the Know: Jerkwad”. None of us knew what it meant, so I went home and did some google searching and found out that it was the word you needed to enter a contest on the official website.

The short story is that we won. I gave the pair of shoes to Michelle today and got a few pictures.

Michelle’s birthday was on the 8th so she really needed to come over so we could do something about that. She came over today. I took her out to the mall and let her pick out a shirt and she found one of Alice in Wonderland, the Disney version, at Hot Topic with the Cheshire Cat on it. The mall closed so we had to go to Target and I got her Guitar Hero II for PS2, because it was in the budget section of video games. I told her she could pick out another item of clothing or a toy and she decided to get something she could play with. I think that’s cool.

We went to Apple Bee’s for dinner and for a change it wasn’t really bad. I gave her the choice of three restaurants, which was Apple Bee’s, Olive Garden, and Steak & Shake. I’m really glad she didn’t pick Steak & Shake I go there too often as it is. The server was really awesome and brought extra sauce for the boneless wings and my chicken salad without me having to ask for it. Michelle got chicken penne and we learned that it is pronounced the same as “penny”. Learn something new every day.

We came home and played Rock Band 2. Patty and Eddy came downstairs to watch. They had to go to bed after midnight though, which I didn’t know how late it was, because the cable box is actually broken. It just gets stuck on boot up and the message on the screen says “APP”. They will be out Tuesday to fix that. Michelle is getting really good at guitar. She’s up to Hard, and getting 90% on all the songs we played, so she might just be ready for the expert difficulty real soon.

Tomorrow is Easter, so all the kids will be getting a basket. I have to drive Michelle home after that, so the weekend will be cut extremely short. I didn’t know she was going to have to leave so soon. I thought I would get more time.

Weekend Visit

Michelle came over for the weekend. The kids and I finally had a chance to give her the presents we got her for Christmas. She was very pleased with the Guitar Hero: Aerosmith game with the guitar, because apparently that was on her wish list and she did not get it from anyone else. I unfortunately did not get a picture of her with her presents, because I wasn’t actually home when she opened them. The kids were just so excited to have her open the gifts finally that they did not wait till I got home.

It was nice having her out for the weekend. It has been a long time. Hopefully she will be able to come out again soon.

New Pictures

I went ahead and put the pictures up for Christmas 2008 here in our house in Akron. It’s a great set of pictures. I managed to get Eddy, Patty, and even one of Grandma. I probably should have taken more, but I was exhausted and I think I did a pretty decent job.

I still have one more picture to add, and that is when Michelle finally opens her gift that is still here waiting.

The Park

Michelle came over for a visit this weekend. I went and picked her up Saturday evening and took her over to see her Godmother Becky. We only stayed for a little while, since Becky was cleaning up from her celebration of passing the bar and Abby’s birthday. I drove us home and that’s all we got around to doing on Saturday.

Sunday I woke up early and woke all the kids. We made breakfast. Patty and Michelle experimented with making cinnamon pancakes and I made scrambled eggs with ham and cheddar cheese on top. I probably would have added green pepper or something, but we didn’t have any. It all turned out pretty good. When the dishes were done and the kitchen cleaned up a bit we all got dressed and went to the park.

We drove down to the park and played catch for awhile. I brought the Nerf foam football that we had on the porch. It’s a good thing that I played catch with them, because Eddy can’t catch and I think that’s something we need to spend some devoted time to remedy. We all walked down to the Mini Mart to get something to drink. We went back to the park and we played monkey in the middle until everyone was tired and it was time to go home.

We came home and had chicken and rice for dinner. Michelle called her mother and let her know that we were going to be leaving soon. It was a fun day.
