I moved to a top level domain. Jo had been nudging me to do it, and I caved in and decided that the cost would be well justified considering how much stuff it will give me to play with. The only step left is some day I should really have it hosted on it’s own server and not from a computer in my den.

The Circle of Shoes Continues
Lets see. I got two pairs of shoes, one never fit right, so I went to return them, but Hibbett’s Sports wouldn’t do anything for me, because I was outside the 30 days and I didn’t have a reciept, so I contacted Nike, sent the shoes to Oregon, Nike sent me back a credit for a purchase on their website, bought shoes at Nike.com and then had to return them to the Nike Store in Aurora, because they didn’t fit and i didn’t want to bother spending more money and time sending them back and waiting on shoes again, got my money back from the Nike store, because the Nike.com receipt doesn’t show that it was a gift card, it just showed my credit card information, because I had to pay for part of the shipping, I went back to Hibbett’s Sports, bought two more pairs of shoes, and again the shoes didn’t fit.
That enormous run on sentence brings us to today.
I drove way out to Massillon, which to be completely honest I don’t think I’ve ever been there before. I can’t remember a single time I went out there for anything.
The map I got from Google was absolutely horrible. I could have taken 77 South the whole way, instead it had me going down a 35 mph road, with construction. Either way is pretty direct, so I don’t think there is a lot of excuses for it.
I went all the way out there so I could return a pair of shoes, because I didn’t want to see the guys at the Hibbett’s Sports next to where I live. I wanted to believe that another Hibbett’s Sports might have a pair of shoes that would work. It turns out that none of the stores have any shoes, so I got a gift card instead.
The next chapter in this adventure will be the purchase of yet another pair of shoes in a few weeks when the sales people assured me they would be getting another shipment in.
LAN Party
I went to a LAN over at a friend of Jo’s house. It’s a really nice house on the west side of Akron. He lives at the end of a circle and that creates ample parking space as you can just line cars up in front of his house along the circle.
Tim, Codex, Jo, Trewr, Renee and I were there. There were of course Jo’s friend and his friends. Everyone seemed pretty cool.
We played some pretty old games, which was fine, because I brought my laptop, and honestly have no intention of ever lugging my desktop over there. The games were fun, but I’m absolutely horrible at most of them. I’m really out of practice with those sorts of things.
I guess he holds these once a month so I’ll be sure to go again next time.
Another Bike Ride
I took a ride today without the kids. I just needed some time to myself. I didn’t want to worry about loading all three bikes, or water bottles, or waiting till they got home from school. I just wanted to take a trip and get some stress out on the trail.
It was raining off and on the whole time. I saw Jo riding back from Peninsula, because his company took a ride out there for lunch. Kind of like a business field trip. I decided that I would ride out there as well. That’s exactly what I did.
I only stopped once and honestly when it was all done and said I was sore and tired. That’s exactly how I wanted to feel. I didn’t want to feel as though I could have given anymore to the trail. I wanted to leave it all there. I was pleased.
I don’t have a single picture, because without the kids I don’t have any real reason to stop. I also don’t have them to take pictures of. It’s just not the same experience at all without them. I enjoy it with them for completely different reasons.
New Old Friends
Codex (Anthony) and Trewr (Andrew) came over today. I have just recently reconnected with Codex, but seeing Trewr again, wow what a blast from the past. We had some time sitting around remembering all the stuff we got into back in the AGL (Akron Gamers League), which was a LAN party we used to have at the Hard Drive Cafe back in the day.
It’s worth noting that neither the AGL nor the Hard Drive Cafe exist today. Honestly I don’t know if gamers will ever go back to days when they feel the need to huddle in a room with their computers and play games face to face, but I hope so.
It was great seeing them again, and hopefully we will all be getting back together real soon, like tomorrow at the LAN being hosted at Jo’s coworkers house!
Password Problem
Ok, in order for me to be able to send emails when someone registers first I’d have to register a top level domain, which I do intend to do, then I’d have to pay for the DNS, most likely through DynDns, and then Google Apps would route all the mail for me, since you cannot have a mail server on a non-business account with AT&T.
My temporary solution, or longtime depending on when I get around to it, I’m randomly generating passwords, editing your account, and sending them to the email address that you provided. Now anyone who registers will be able to post and everything should be solved.
Thank you Rick for bringing this to my attention.
Rock Band is Gone
I sold Rock Band in it’s entirety to Derek. If anyone wants to play Rock Band from now on they are going to need to supply everything, because Derek bought the whole kit. It’s gone.
Delivery
I got the blender back today. They actually sent me the whole thing, so I have a new glass container and a new blade. Pretty cool how that worked out. I went ahead and tested it out on a blackberry smoothie and it performed like a champ. Let’s hope this one lasts longer than the previous one.
I also got my shoes, but they didn’t fit. Nike seems to make two kinds of running shoe and the one pinches my foot in the middle. I got directions to the Nike Outlet Store in Aurora and I went there after class. It was some drive. They didn’t have any shoes that I liked, which still seems a bit odd to me, but they let me return the shoes so I got my money back and headed over to Hibbett’s Sports off of Arlington.
When I got there I tried on another pair of shoes that looked perfect, but had the same fit as the ones I returned, so I had to try on some other shoes. I settled on two pair. A pair of Nike shoes that are basically white, but with blue and black accents. I like them. The other pair is a trail rated pair of shoes from New Balance. They are darker and should be shoes I can wear when the weather sucks or I want to go for a bike ride or something. I needed at least one pair of shoes that isn’t white.
I must have drove almost 30 miles today.
Time to Kill
I had some time to kill in between classes today, so I drove out to Stow to run some errands. I imagine later in the semester I’ll need this precious time to work on assignments, study, take notes, and many other things, but for right now this is my time.
First thing I did was run to Fantastic Sam’s to get my haircut. There was a girl there that I’ve never had my haircut by before and she was extremely thorough. She was also a bit rough, but that’s fine, I’m not made of glass. I always get my hair buzzed with the trimmers and usually I get the girl that is apparently in a hurry, so they always miss a spot. Not this time. I think her name was Melissa and she got every bit of my head with those things.
Then I went to Goodyear and got the oil changed in my car. I asked if they could have me out by 5, because I needed to get to class, and they said they could, so it was off to walk around Stow. I walked down to the GameStop. I walked down to the Chipotle that they just built and got something to eat. I walked all around just to kill some time. When I went back my car was done just like they said it would be. Off to class I went.
Shipping?
Right now I am supposed to have a new blender to replace the one that burned out, a wireless mouse receiver from Logitech to replace the one that broke, a pair of shoes to replace the ones that had some sort of weird defect in them, a universal remote control that was on sale for $50 and that I ordered on the 24th from Amazon, and a book I ordered from Half.com that I need for class all shipping to me right now.
I’m trying to think if there is anything else I’m supposed to be looking forward to.
