Birthday Gift for Eddy & Patty

There was a loud knock on the door and a delivery for Patty and Eddy. The gift was for both of their birthdays and what they actually received was an “Edible Arrangement”. The base is Spongebob Squarepants and what is sticking out of his head is pineapple (which was cut to look like the pineapple house the character lives in and flowers), honey dew, cantaloupe, grapes, and chocolate covered strawberries. Attached at the top is a balloon. The timing on this delivery was perfect as none of us had actually eaten lunch yet. I took a few pictures and then the kids shared a bit with me.

Patty remarked that it was “the best birthday gift this year” and when I asked her why she said “chocolate covered strawberries”. Everything I tasted was great, so I can’t disagree that it was a very welcomed gift. The kids finished the entire thing with nothing to save except for the base and the balloon and went out for a bike ride. Surprises are fun.

From the kids and I, thank you Deanna!

Into the Woods

Patty and Eddy were in a play at St. Paul’s. The play was on March 18th. They spent months going to rehearsals and practicing for their parts. The play was “Into the Woods”. This was the first time that either of them have been in a play, so they got small parts, which is to say neither of them actually had a line in the play. Patty was not necessarily happy with that, but she understood that the way the school assigned parts was based on experience. Maybe this year Eddy will get a better part at St. Paul and Patty will get a part in a high school production. We will have to see.

They both ended up being woods people. They both had to wear make up. Patty was personally in charge of bringing their make up to the play so that they could both apply it before the show. The show ran for three nights and this was the Friday show. Their mother attended the Saturday night performance and their Great Grandmother went to the final showing on Sunday. Their part was basically walking up and down the isle to the stage and then back off set again with several other children. I took the picture of them during the intermission. They had a lot of fun doing it and I hope to see more plays with them in it.

St. Paul’s Volleyball

Patty played volleyball for St. Paul for their 2011 season. This was her first time on a sports team and her first time playing volleyball. I bought her a volleyball so that she could practice hitting it at home. The only thing she did not learn to do was serve overhand. She did well and the team did excellent. The team won all but one of their games and managed to make it to the city championship game, which they won.
